THE SEVEN HILLS AND THEIR VILLAS

Who arrives for the first time in Bossico will be stunned by a place known as “Settecolli” – Seven Hills – at 1,000 m.a.s.l. In the second half of 1800 some imposing villas were built there by affluent people of the middle class and nobles belonging to the liberal and anti-clericalism movements in favor of Rome, the Italian capital. For this reason, these villas were named after the famous Seven Hills of Rome and the events of the Risorgimento.

Villa Suello (on the way to Settecolli Street) was built in 1927 in honour of the battle of Suello Mount, fought during the Third War of Independence.
